Enroll Apple devices to DEP and MDM (Jamf)

Using an iPad in this example

When the organization own iPads before DEP environment
Need iOS 11 and up to use DEP
Have to remove device from icloud at icloud.com, find devices, remove, remove.

Using Apple Configurator 2 (Organization already connected to DEP server)

Prepare the device, Create Wifi Profile only, save locally mobileconfig

deploy.apple.com

Device Enrollment Program

Manage servers to see (Move DEP devices to MDM)

Manage devices (Enter serial number, can find in Apple Configurator)

Manage servers to see (Devices moved to MDM from DEP)

Back to Apple Configurator 2 to drag local mobileconfig Wifi profile into the Device (in Apple Configurator)

Ready for MDM (Jamf)

DEP enrolment happens during the "first time setup"

assign a blueprint to the device (Need a Blueprint before)

then wipe the device.

and that will make the device show up in Jamf Now -> Devices



Do i always have to use Apple Configurator? or is it just for iPads the organization already had before DEP?
